Bring a team to the pre-conference of the Northwest Mathematics Conference. The program is organized around grade bands (K-5, 6-8, 9-12).
This is an opportunity for your team to have:
Your team will consist of three to five members from the same grade band and from the same building or district.
Note: Teams should be from the same grade band as determined by your district's organization, i.e. (K-5, 6-8, 9-12) or (K-6, 7-9, 10-12).
Cost: $800 per team of 3-5 members. This cost includes registration for the entire Pre-Conference Workshop and Northwest Mathematics Conference for each member of the team. There is no difference in cost for a 3-member, 4-member or 5-member team.
Proposed Agenda
8:00-10:30 Teams grouped by grade bands, K-5, 6-8, 9-12:
11:00-12:00 Mary Kay Stein from the University of Pittsburg, author and researcher, sharing about improvement from a national perspective.
12:00-1:00 Box Lunch served onsite.
1:00-2:30 Nicole Davis, University of Washington and Seattle Public Schools
"Integrating group-worthy problems into the standard curriculum to enrich the mathematics experience for all students."
2:45-4:15 Work within each of the grade bands to modify selected problem related to measurement and algebraic thinking. Participants will bring curriculum materials related to measurement and/or algebraic thinking from an upcoming lesson that they want to adapt and get feedback on their attempt to make it group-worthy.
7:00-8:30 2007 Northwest Math Conference Opening Keynote Panel in the Meydenbauer Center.
Friday and Saturday - Choose from over 200 sessions, workshops, and minicourses in the 2007 Northwest Math Conference.
