HOSPITALITY

The Hospitality Committee welcomes you to the City of Roses and the 47th Annual Northwest Mathematics Conference. The Hospitality Desk is located in the Ballroom Foyer with the exhibits. Be sure to stop by for information on dining, shopping, transportation and nightlife activities. We will also serve as a clearinghouse for lost and found.

Thursday: Noon to 6:00 PM Friday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM Saturday: 8:00 AM - Noon

FRIDAY LUNCHEON

The Friday boxed lunch will be given out at the Red Lion on the River and Red Lion Inn at the Quay - from 11:00 AM to 1:15 PM Friday, October 10, 2008 BY TICKET ONLY.  Please pick up your lunch at the hotel where you had your last morning session.

CLOCK HOURS, PDUs, AND COLLEGE CREDIT

State teachers can obtain 15 clock hours for $30 through conference participation. Washington clock hour forms and related information will be available at the WSCM booth. Oregon PDU mini certificates will be printed on the conference receipt. College credit is available through Portland State University for $55 per credit. Forms and details are available in the registration area.

SPECIAL NEEDS

CLEAN AIR ACT

For the comfort of many participants, no smoking is permitted in the presentation rooms or other indoor areas unless designated. Thank you for your cooperation.

CELL PHONES

Please remember to turn your cell phone off or set it to a silent mode to prevent distractions to presenters and other conference attendees.

Transportation

 

Transportation by chartered bus will be provided between the two conference hotels. There is a path along the river and the bridge between each hotel for walkers.

Shuttle Hours: Thursday: 8 am to 10 pm (with an extra bus from 4 – 9 pm)

Friday: 7:30 am to 8 pm (multiple busses)

Saturday: 7 am to 1 pm
 

Driving Directions between hotels:

From Red Lion Inn at the Quay to Red Lion Jantzen Beach
Go North on Columbia Street.  Turn right onto W 5th St, then immediately bear right onto ramp.  Merge onto I-5 South.  You will cross into Oregon.  At exit 308 turn left onto ramp.  Keep right to stay on ramp.  Bear right onto N. Center Ave.  Turn right onto N Hayden Island Dr.

From Red Lion Jantzen Beach to Red Lion Inn at the Quay
Turn Left (Southeast) onto N. Hayden Island Dr.  Turn right.  Turn left onto N Hayden Island Dr.  Stay straight to go onto I-5 North.  You will cross into Washington.  At exit 1B, turn right onto ramp.  Bear left onto E. 6th St. toward city center.   Turn left onto Columbia Street.

 
Directions for walking from the Jantzen Beach to the Inn at the Quay:

The walk will take approximately 20 minutes (weather permitting). From the west entrance of the Jantzen Beach, go to the stop light and cross both streets. (Taco Bell will be on your left.) Follow the sidewalk across the grass until you get to an intersection, and you are looking at the bike route sign. At that point, take a small detour on an unpaved path to the bridge. Enjoy the scenery. Once you get to the Vancouver side, go down the stairs to the street. Cross to the sidewalk and walk west to the Inn at the Quay.
